About Our Ranch and Us here at Sackrace....

Hello all I am Patty, one of the three partners of Sack Race Ranch and I guess you can say I started it all.  Even as a little girl I have wanted to live in the Country and have animals, back then it was horses.  Now its Alpaca's and someday really soon I hope to add horses to my ranch here.

My real time job is Nursing and after 22 years in Nursing I was looking for some changes.  I happened to come across a ranch for sale in my travels around and luckily for me the offer was accepted.

So in searching for a way for the ranch to pay for itself I researched (OK a little bit) and was hooked by the alpaca's.  My little herd of two females and one Lonely Herd Sire has now grown to 5 females and two up coming Herdsires.  I it has been so much fun taking care of the animals I am now in the process of completing my Vet tech course. They are such a unique animal and I learn something from them every day.

So living in the Old West where the stars are still crystal clear and traditions of excellence abound, please feel free to stop by.  The coffee is always on.

Hello and welcome to Silver Sage Fiber Farms, let me introduce ourselves we are Marti and Jim the other partners in Sack Race Ranch.  This old ranch is as rustic and full of history that anyone could want. Life on this small ranch is wonderful and the local town of Yerington is full of just plain good folk.
We have been blessed in our start up in the fact that our herd has grown to 19 head and are looking for many more Cria to be born soon. The partnership we have with Patty has allowed us to concentrate on the development of Sack Race Ranch. There by sharing the work load and allowing us to develop different aspects of the business.

The hope of Sack Race is to build a herd 100 head strong and start a processing mill.   Patty is currently stocking fine Alpaca products in her store front in the old rail house.     Marti is an active Real Estate Broker specializing in Northern Nevada, particularly the 95a corridor/farm district.
I have retired from the Iron workers, and have taken over the construction/chores here at the ranch and will begin transporting alpaca's in 2007.
